How many moisturizers do you own? Maybe it’s just me..but I always switch up my moisturizers and wear different ones depending on how my skin feels. I have combination skin so it’s very temperamental. Sometimes my skin is oily, but I will also get dry patches on random areas on my face. I always have at least two different moisturizers to help combat these issues. Now, that it is getting to be fall, my skin is leaning more toward the dry side throughout the day.
If you have combination/dry skin, try out this moisturizer duo!!
Soonjung 2x Barrier Cream:
Since it’s been getting colder, I was looking for a hydrating daytime moisturizer that wasn’t too thick or left a greasy residue behind. I layer on suncreen after moisturizing during the day so I needed something hydrating but not too thick. I heard many great things about this moisturizer so I was excited to try it out! Etude House launched this Soonjung line to help those with sensitive and reactive skin. So, all of the products from this line are free of fragrance, artificial colors, and parabens!
Ingredients: This is formulated with panthenol (Vitamin B5) and madecassoside (derived from Centella asiatica), which help deeply moisturize your skin, while calming down any redness or irritation. It also has sunflower seed oil and shea butter that nourishes your skin, giving it an overall plump and glow.
Scent: Totally scentless. I literally can’t smell anything.
Texture: Had a watery texture. Definitely didn’t feel like a thick cream.
I think the best part about this cream is that it moisturizes without leaving a greasy residue behind. After applying my sunscreen and makeup, I don’t have an oily T-zone that I sometimes get when I wear too thick of a moisturizer. When you pat this on, it cools the skin down and absorbs into your skin. It definitely reduced my redness over time as well. I would say that this is very hydrating, but probably not hydrating enough if you deal with extremely dry skin every day. Since it’s so lightweight, I think this is more for combination/dry skin. I like how this is thin enough to mix in a facial oil (my new fave is the Aromatica Organic Rosehip Oil) if you still need an extra kick of moisture during the day!
COSRX Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream
Personally, I always have to use a thicker moisturizer at night or some sort of night cream. After wearing makeup all day, removing my makeup, and also if I am exfoliating that day, my skin feels extremely stripped by the end. I always look for something strong to slather onto my face that can seep into my skin over night. I started using this COSRX Balancium Ceramide Cream at night, and all I can say is wow!!!
Ingredients: It’s got all the skin needs in this one tube! I feel like it’s full of ingredients that truly nourish the skin from the inside to out. One of the major ingredients is Ceramide. They naturally occur in your skin to protect your skin from moisture loss through environmental factors. Not only does it have ceramide, it also contains Niacinamide (vitamin B3), which increases ceramics synthesis in the skin, making the protection even better! There’s also glycerin, betaine, and sodium hyaluronate that help hydrate super dry skin. Another great ingredient is Centella (such as Centella Asiatica leaf water, asiatic acid..). This soothes and regenerates irritated skin. Panthenol (vitamin B5) also helps with soothing sensitivity skin as well!
Scent: There is a slight scent to it, but it’s not an artificial fragrance. I personally love the scent because it makes it feel more soothing. It's crazy how just a smell will make you feel differently about something! The scent is lemony, citrusy, and kind of herbal. I like it. This product has Bergamot oil (fruit oil) in it, which I believe contributes to the scent. I know some people are sensitive to fruit oils so if you are, I wouldn’t use this product. However, I think the scent is so minor that it wouldn’t do any harm.
Texture: It definitely just feels like any kind of thick cream, except that it’s very spreadable. It does feel a little oily though, which isn’t a bad thing. This is probably from the oils and ceramides in it that help prevent water loss from your skin.
I LOVE this. This is my go-to night cream.. probably forever.. unless I find something better. It adds so much to my skin at night that I don’t need to have anything heavy on during the day. I feel it sink deep into my skin with an almost instant cooling sensation. I literally feel the Centella repairing my skin. This doesn’t leave a sticky film on my face, but it definitely still feels a bit oily because of the ceramides. That is why I like this for night because it is the best time to pack everything into your skin to soak in as you sleep. If you have very dry skin, this will probably work for you during the day too. I found that for me, it was too heavy to layer sunscreen and makeup over.
Happy moisturizer hunting!!
