The Review Is In: BANILA CO. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm

Does it annoy anyone else that when a celebrity answers “How is your skin still so youthful, clear, and even?” or is it just me? The first secret is they always say is that they always remove makeup every night before bed. Maybe I’m alone in this regard, but I think removing makeup every night is tantamount to writing a six-page essay the night before it’s due. Plain and simple, I just don’t want to do it.

I get red & sore eyes from digging off cemented eye makeup, dirty up two new face towels, and get wet, stringy hair that keeps falling out of my hair tie as I lean over the sink struggling. I’ve tried every cleanser imaginable to curve my feelings of dread each night, but they always come up short. Oil cleansers get too sticky. Foam cleansers get too messy. Micellar water uses too many cotton pads.

I just wanted something simple, effective, and quick.

BANILA CO. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm became the perfect solution for my laziness.

Specifically formulated for sensitive skin, it’s fast, painless, and requires almost no deep scrubbing or tugging at the thin skin around my eyes. It naturally exfoliates and brightens the skin with vitamin C filled acerola extract. It’s fragrance-free—which means it lacks unnecessary irritating ingredients—and has recently been re-formulated with a higher melting point, so you won’t need to worry about this melting on a hot, summer day.

Feel and consistency: Similar to the texture of coconut oil (without the pore clogging effects), this cleanser melts instantly between the warmth of my fingers and face. Once it melts, it becomes a clear oil. That generally scares me because oil becomes difficult to remove itself. However, when this balm comes in contact with water, it dissolves right away, leaving no residue behind.

Scent: As mentioned above, Banila Co assures that this product is fragrance-free. However, some people have detected a light, rose scent. The company says that is due to phenoxyethanol, an ingredient that is derived from green tea.

When/how to use: This product is best used towards the end of your day when you’re ready to remove your makeup. Simply scoop out a small amount and massage it into your skin. Focus on your eyes or any other hard-to-budge makeup like matte lipstick. After you’ve thoroughly rubbed and you look like a terrifying clown, rinse with water or, as I prefer to do, gently wipe with a wet washcloth. The product emulsifies when it comes in contact with water so it is very easy to wash off or wipe away.

Results: It’s always nice to review a product like this where I don’t need to wait a few weeks or months to truly notice a result. This balm does exactly what I need it to do every day. My makeup melts off instantly. There’s no mess, no clean-up, and no residue. It take me less than two minutes every night to remove all of the gunk off of my face, including the strongest waterproof mascara, lip stains, and glitter.

It will definitely be a staple in my skincare routine for years to come. Check out the BANILA CO Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm here!
