I’m a huge “add-on” girl. I love products that don’t necessarily fit into the conventional skincare routine and instead serve some sort of fun, specialty purpose. I’m talking treatments, patches, oils and creams for places you probably don’t need creams, and the ten thousand lip masks and hair masks. The One Step Original Clear Pads by COSrx fit that bill. They are a super amusing, multi-functional item to try out, play with, and most likely, fall in love with. Keep them on your skincare shelf in your bathroom, place them on your bedside table, or throw them in your purse or backpack. Whatever you choose, they’re useful everywhere.
These toning pads are soaked in Betaine Salicylate (a BHA ingredient critical in clearing out pores) and Salix Alba (Willow) Bark (an anti-inflammatory, soothing, and antiseptic ingredient). These ingredients suit each other well, as BHA's can be drying while willow bark is restorative. Many reviews gush over its ability to remove excess oils and dead skin cells, immensely helping acne-prone skin. They’re not too strong and cause no irritation for sensitive skin types. It’s truly the perfect all-in-one multi-functional product with its promise to exfoliate, control oil, hydrate, and repair.
Feel and consistency: The pads are nice and substantial – they’re not flimsy or see-through – and each pad is well-soaked, so it’s not a one-swipe-and-done situation. I found I could swipe over my whole face with one side and then go back over it a couple of minutes later with the other side of the pad.
Scent: The smell is very medicinal. There are no unnecessary fragrances here. It’s free of parabens, synthetic dyes, and mineral oils, too.
When/how to use: Here’s the fun part. You can use these whenever. Use them when you wake up in the morning and you’ve got some leftover oils on your face from your overnight mask. Use it during the day when you’ve been running around doing errands and you’re sweaty and hot. Use at night before your moisturizer for a little extra kick. In terms of how to use, it’s simple enough. Take a pad and swipe it gently across your face. Use the other side of the pad for an extra hit. Some reviewers even said they would place the pad on their problem areas and leave it there for a few minutes, using it almost as a mini treatments.
Results: These pads are deserving of its many awards. It significantly reduced the size of my pores, especially on my nose when I would leave the pad on for an extra few minutes. I don’t struggle with acne as much any more, so I can’t speak to how well it reduces acne. It dramatically reduces the appearance and duration of any of those pesky zits. My only issue with these pads is how my face texture feels after using them. It’s an odd, tacky, tight feeling, but at the same time, it doesn’t feel dry. So perhaps, I’m more confused by the feel of it than I am bothered by it. Overall, I love keeping these in my backpack and giving my face a quick pick-me-up cool down on hot summer days.
